The launch of the Android O Developer Preview this morning isn’t the only news out of Mountain View, with Google’s News and Weather app getting a decent feature update today which lets you consume more news without trying.
Previously the News & Weather app simply showed you the top three stories from topics such as Business, Tech, Entertainment, Sports and more, but Google found that once users jumped in to a topic and started reading they kept wanting more, so now it’s happening automatically with a continuous scroll loading in more news under each topic. Articles under each topic are all optimised by using Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) so you’ll see more news faster. Each story card still retains the Highly Cited, Local Source and Fact Check tags so you can gain more insight into the news source.
The update to the Google News & Weather app will be rolling out to Google Play (and the iOS app store) over the next few days so keep an eye out for that in your Play Store updates.
