While Allo isn’t yet the messaging app of choice for many of us, Google continues to make small incremental feature updates to the app ahead of more meaningful updates. Today, that feature update is ‘Selfie Clips’.

Announced by Head of Product at Google for Allo and Duo, Amit Fulay on Twitter, Allo can now capture and share Selfie Clips, basically short video clips from your front-facing camera. Exactly how long the clips can be hasn’t been announced, but probably aren’t going to be too long.

Also announced is an update to the compose bar, with Mr Fulay announcing ‘we’re experimenting with new ways to help you share things quickly’. The newly designed compose bar adds in a layer above the text input with fast access to rich media options like adding in location, pictures, files, GIFs etc, which until now have been hidden behind the ‘+’ button in the compose bar. Whether this stays around or not will of course be based on how users react.

The update will apparently begin rolling out to users from today, so get ready to start sharing selfie clips.
