Google has taken to its blog to announce their new app that will help the nearly 253 million people in the world who are blind or visually impaired using Artificial Intelligence.
The app, called Lookout, uses technology as Google Lens allowing users to search and take action on the objects around them by simply pointing their smartphones at objects or spaces to learn more about them.
Lookout is designed to help people learn about new places, help reading texts and basic daily tasks such as cooking and shopping. Lookout, when the phone is pointed forward at a space will give the user information about people in it, texts and objects.
Google have said that the app is not perfect of course and are encouraging feedback about times when Lookout does or doesn’t work well. To discover how the app works in more detail head on over to the Lookout Help Centre.
Although it will only work on Pixel devices in the US at the moment Google are hoping to bring it to more devices, countries and platforms soon. If you have a Pixel why not head on over to the Play Store and check it out.
