After no more official news came from Three yesterday, a few people have speculated at an April 21st release (next Wednesday) date for the Xperia X10.

We hope it comes soon for Three so they can get it out in time before Telstra starts to market it’s HTC Desire & X10.

Three have today posted on their Blog that the X10 is coming, but no confirmed date yet.

I noticed on three website that SE X1 was taken away and no longer available…does that mean anything? hmm……

I’m starting to think they just tell you what they need to just to prevent you going elsewhere. I’m personally starting to get sick of hearing the word soon come out of their mouths.
I also spoke to a fella with a kiwi accent today from three upgrades and was told the x10 was being released tomorrow,so who knows.

Hi all talked to “Chad” from three upgrades today. And was told that the recorded release date was 21st April however he then remarked “I don’t think that’s going to happen” and then told me it should hopefully be released in the next few weeks. Chad also told me that three was definatly getting the google nexus one but had no word when.

Rusty

Yeah how they call it Customer CARE i have no idea !!!!

Rang 3 upgrades again today after being told on Friday that the X10 handsets were in stock but could not be sold due to no pricing info and to ring back Monday. Well i rang again today and got a very polite Indian gentleman who i could not understand and he wouldnโ€™t listen to what i had already been told. Basically all i could get out of him was the handsets have not arrived and he has no idea when. How strange a 3 staff member having no idea. I think i might be taking my 4 numbers elsewhere as… Read more ยป

I guess it’s time to talk about apps for the phone, right? Are there any ‘must have app’ for android phones out there? It’s not only limited to android market I supposed, unlike iPhone which you have to go thru’ iTunes.

Rusty

Thanks for your time and honest opinion that’s the reason why i’m leaning towards the X10 also.
Never used an iPhone but son has an iPod touch and had i bit of a play with that.
I like the idea of freedom ie: Windows Mobile,Android etc.
Currently using a Sony Walkman and happy with that so might just hold off for the X10 and see what Three offer in the way of plans & upgrades.
Again thanks for your help.

Rusty

Buzz Moody have you used the iphone at all and is it worth the wait to get the x10 over the iphone.
Have used symbian or windows mobile only,Never used an Android device.
My main use would be browsing, texting and music,oh and also call quality.
Currently using the nokia n95 8gb and seperate ipod but wanting just one device.
Your opinion would be appreciated.

Heard from a staff member today in store that they already have the handset in store, just not allowed to put them on the shelves yet. SOON!

Rusty

Just got off the phone from 3 upgrades again. They have the handsets in stock but are not able to sell them yet as their is no pricing on the computer for them yet.
She said the stores are unable to sell them as well due to no pricing info.
I was told to ring upgrades again on Monday during normal business hours.
Was seriously considering giving up and just buying an IDud 3gs.
Has anyone got a X10 yet from overseas and what’s your opinion.
Is it worth the wait.
Cheers !!!!

The “near future” has been defined by Sony Ericson:

Apparently the 2.1 update for the x10 will be released in September.

This also suggests that the x10 will be multi-touch once the update is installed.

For me, September is too far away to justify buying the phone now.

Buzz Moody, in your opinion and for your use case which is your favorite Android handset at the moment.

Called Three upgrades today from melb. was told “hopefully” released on the 21st. Is there any info about the other handsets with android being released on three? The x10, has no multi touch, is running Android 1.6 (which will be updated to newer Android “sometime in the future” [despite the guy from three upgrades telling me if i got it i could update it straight away]). Has a plastic screen [vs glass which doesn’t scratch as much]. Im pretty disappointed with this handset and its disappointing to see Three bring a nearly but not quite there handset to market as… Read more ยป

i went in to a 3 store today and they said next Wednesday. so that would be the 21st

Rusty

Rang 3 upgrades from Brisbane at lunch time today and was told the release is tomorrow 16/4/10.

Hope this is correct.

Joel Villis

Certainly hope so! Have a look at this, people are getting frustrated already :b

The comment that warrented a reply from Three was me.
I get so frustrated with them.
Last night i called about getting the best android handsets on 3 (HTC desire, nexus one, etc) and was told three would only range those handsets when they could get a good deal on them so they could pass it on to customers. Which i read as “we will range handsets when they are just about obsolete”.
