If you own either a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 or X10 Mini Pro purchased from Vodafone you can now update your device to Android 2.1. Most people have had success with the update using Sony Ericsson’s update software rather than the OTA method (settings -> about phone -> check updates).
On the Xperia X10 it will bring out the near-full potential of your device with 720p video recording with continual auto focus as well as full use of the 16 million colour display. Both the X10 MP & Xperia X10 will get a new 5 panel home screen, backup & restore application and new social integrated phone book.
If you have either device on Voda, please try updating and letting us know if it works for you. It seems we’ve had tremendous success with the Xperia X10 and Dell Streak on Optus in regards to updates also.
Backup and restore didn’t restore all contacts because theyre probably saved as part of your google account. Try syncing your google account with your phone and they should show up.
Try a hard reset via the phone software and then check for updates. Otherwise, find the nordic 2.1 software on the XDA forum, worked well for me.
updated to 2.1 and 3g not working anyone know why ?

Tried both methods but still says I already have latest software.
Update released 1 Nov (3months late already) and it’s now almost the end of Nov & still no sign of the elusive update. This really is beyond a joke now.
If you can spare approx AUD15, debrand your phone to a generic OS version without the carrier bloatware. Did it a few months ago on my x10 mini to get rid of the 3 bloatware then again 2 weeks ago to generic uk version of 2.1.

also 2.1 will not give 16 mil colours.

update succeeded but backup & restore failed. Still working but basiclly hopeless.

I was talking to telstra today and they said it was going to be early next year for them. They blamed sony and denied knowing about the other carriers. Unreal
Just did this through the SE software and it worked fine. FINALLY have 2.1 on my X10

What about 3 mobile…is that the same as vodafone or different branding(and apps)
Long story short….No it dosn’t update via phone and or Sony erricson software…Fail
