Ausdroid is almost 100% ad supported, however when we receive a request from a company who wishes advertise on the site, we want to make sure they’re legit and worth being advertised to you guys, the readers. When ReGadget approached us we thought they’d be a pretty good match to our target demographic: people who go through multiple phones in a year and can get rid of their old devices. I fit perfectly into this demographic as well, believe it or not, so it seemed right for me to try them out by selling my HTC Desire which I recently replaced with the Samsung Galaxy S II. Hit the break to read my thoughts and how the process went.
Finding my phone and getting a quote..
First thing was first, I had to find the HTC Desire and see how much ReGadget were offering me. One search and a few clicks later I was offered a payment of $186 dollars — a price I was more than happy with. Though I sent them a request for a custom quote and told them the phone was in good condition, was the Telstra version and I had the original cables and box, just to see if they’d offer me more; the offer was raised to $236. Sold!
Sending them the device..
After confirming bank details for the payment (which is paid once they inspect the device) ReGadget then sent me a pre-paid postage satchel to send my Desire back in, which arrived the next day (I live close to their offices though). With their postage satchel came 3 mini business cards — very cool — and a delivery docket you put back in the satchel to send back and some simple instructions. They also ask you send in some form of ID such as a copy/photo of your driver’s license or passport. Of course me being the forgetful person I am forgot to send in ID which they then nicely reminded me of once they received the Desire and confirmed it was in the condition I claimed it was in. This all happened in the space of a few days.
Receiving the payment..
As soon as the ID and device checks were cleared, ReGadget swiftly transferred the amount they said they’d pay for my Desire straight into my bank account, and just so you think I’m not bluffing for any reason, here’s my bank record:
Final thoughts..
ReGadget may not pay back massive sums for your device, however if your phone is sitting around collecting dust this is by far one of the best ways to make some money from it. I’m glad I made $236 out of a device I got for free. I also highly recommend you request a custom quite if you feel there’s something worth noting about your device (condition or other), as you might just get offered a bit more $$$. ReGadget FTW!

I sold my galaxy tab telstra version and htc desire hd 3 version all for almost $700.
I am very happy with their service and constant email updates.

I just checked and you’re right, it’s changed. No clue on how often this happens.
Our prices alter quite frequently depending on market conditions. For example, in the last few weeks, the Galaxy S price has decreased due to the S II being released. With regards to the Desire, a Desire in perfect condition with no box or cables will be around the $184 mark, close to Buzz’s price quoted.
Thats rubbish you can get much more than 184 bucks for selling privately

Just sold my Nintendo DS lite console to them for $60, not bad considering that is exactly the amount of money I needed to fix my laptop and I don’t have to pay anything for postage! 😀
Giving them a go for a quote on an older notebook I have I want move, might save me selling it on ebay!
Won’t be putting any of my friends intouch with these guys. Put in a request for two different notebooks I had planned to put on ebay, both prices are just insulting to say the least. Offers around 20% of ‘average’ ebay prices. So guess who gets the business!

With regards to laptop pricing, as laptops depreciate heavily in price, with the postage cost (heavy and bulky isn’t cheap), and also the processing time and data deletion, the price may not seem competitive. But if you do take into account these issues, the price is competitive. There is also (as far as we are aware) an online service that provides what we do in terms of selling laptops. If you are competent in formatting and reinstalling your own laptop, quite often it may be beneficial to sell it yourself. Otherwise, you can sell it to us and we will… Read more »
$86 for for a Brand name notebook in A1 cond, containing Intel Core 2 Duo & 2GB of RAM, is a little on the lower side of things…. Might try you for a mobile next time, but not again for notebooks. Thanks anyhow.

See this is advert is fine because you’re upfront and honest about it. We all acknowledge and support the fact that Ausdroid is supported by advertisments, but when you try to hide an article from being just an advert, that’s when people get offended (your mobicity one).
I had a great experience selling my desire and PSP to regadget. They were very friendly and helpful. Chat service was great! I had some questions on a Saturday and they were online!

Spoke to regadget about a week ago about my devices that are lying around collecting dust. Not only are there prices pretty good (after you take into account that if you sell via ebay you have fees, paypal fees etc etc) but their online chat service is awesome.
And the guy i spoke to was really helpful, and was great to just have a chat to.
Is it all kinds of gadgets not just phones? I have heaps of stuff that I am too lazy to sell on ebay, I might try this.
