We know it’s coming, it has to be; the HTC Sensation has been leaked and rumoured here in Australia multiple times and it’s all come from the one carrier: Telstra. To almost seal the deal, Telstra sent out the above Tweet this morning with the worst/most obvious Sensation pun ever. To them I say: please stop teasing, Telstra, and just give us a date and price and a majority of Aussie Android lovers will be happy. Because i saw on mobicity they have special mobile for telstra (nextG).if i buy outright sensation from telstra can i use sim card from virgin because im already had plan with virgin thanksss

I’m thinking – no. Each carrier will lock the phones to their network so if you bought an Sensation from Optus, you won’t be able to use it on the Vodafone despite them using the same frequencies for their network. The same is with Telstra, you buy a phone from Telstra, it will be locked to their network. If you want to buy an unlocked phone and use it on Virgin, you’ll have buy it from Mobicity (or even oversea’s companies like Handtec or Clover who might be a bit cheaper). Thats incorrect. Postpaid phones are not locked in Australia, only prepaid.
They may use different frequencies however.
If you want to use it on Telstra you will need a phone running UMTS 850 as one of its compatible frequencies.
Some phones are only UMTS 900/2100. These will not work properly on Telstra.
I just assumed that Telstra will only sell postpaid phones that will run on their network otherwise it wouldn’t make much business sense for them to sell phones that will run on their competitors’ frequencies too.
But you are right when talking about buying postpaid phones from Optus and Vodafone as they will run on both operators’ network.
im considering this phone – i am however worried about the battery life – i run a small business so im relying heavily on my phone to perform and atleast last a full day of use – my current HTC Desire needs a charge boost throughout the day!
i’ve heard great things about the SGS2… im yet to see one to believe…!
If you want the battery life of a dumb phone you need to use it like a dumb phone. I think the battery life of the SGS2 and sensation is probly about equal. Iv had the SGS2 for 4 days and its battery life is less than the Atrix (heavy GPS use is its weakness). I went for the SGS2 bigger phone better colors and no bloaty sense overlay
