It seems every man and his dog is making a basic Android tablet these days, Acer being no exception to this rule. A couple of months ago they launched the Acer Iconia Tab A500 here in Australia which — like every other Android tablet — has 10-inch, dual-core Tegra 2 and looks slightly ugly. Now thanks to the Android 3.2 release which allows 7-inch display support, Acer will be launching the 7-inch Iconia Tab A100 in the next 6 to 8 weeks.
Specs of the Iconia Tab A100 include:
- 7-inch 1024×600 (169ppi) Capacitive Display
- NVIDIA Tegra 2 1GHz Dual-Core CPU
- Android 3.2
- 13.1mm thick / 720 grams
- Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 — 3G
- 8GB Internal Storage / 512MB RAM
- 5MP Rear Camera (720p Video) / 2MP Front Camera
- HDMI-out 1080p
Gizmodo says that it will come in both Wi-Fi only and 3G variants, with the latter costing that little bit extra, however, the base price is going to be $500. As for availability, the current Iconia Tab A500 can be purchased through retailers such as JB Hi-Fi, so that’s where we’re expecting the Iconia Tab A100 to go. That is unless a carrier picks up the 3G variant.

So this tablet is US$350 in the States, and AU$500 here.

Oof… $500? I thought it was going to launch at around $350-ish. Acer showed a prototype at the Melbourne Android Dev Meetup a couple of months ago. 7″ + Honeycomb = win, especially compared to the 7″ Tab for example.
Be interesting to see how well this does…
bit dear if you ask me. for $70 more u can have the galaxy tab when launched.
If only it had a respectable battery life. Sticking with mg SGT for now
