Just as expected, the Huawei Ascend P1 will be making its way to Australia next month and will launch on a range of carriers and retailers according to the Chinese mobile giant. We haven’t had any confirmation from the carriers or any stores as to whether they’ll be stocking the device, so it’s a stab in the dark. However, we’re willing to guess Vodafone is one of the carriers on board for the launch.

Huawei is known for making low-end devices, which is far from the Ascend P1 — a device that somewhat mimics the specs of the Samsung Galaxy S II:

  • 4.3-inch 960×540 256ppi (qHD) Super AMOLED Capacitive Display (Gorilla Glass)
  • Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich”
  • 1.5GHz Dual-Core OMAP4460 CPU
  • 8MP BSI Camera (Dual Flash / HDR) / 1.3MP HD Front Camera
  • 3G of unknown bands
  • 1800mAH Battery
  • Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth
  • 6.68mm in thickness, 64.8mm in width

If Huawei can price this device right (which I’m sure they will) then this is a very appealing smartphone for the mass market. While it might not be fighting in the league of the HTC One X, it will certainly be a competitor for the mid-ranged HTC One S — another device launching here in the next week.

That’s one of the great things about the Huawei brand, they run pretty much stock.

definitely a plus. stock is superior. i wish more of the manufacturers would just accept this and give up on their touchwizes etc.
