With Samsung letting the cat out of the bag in the form of the Samsung Galaxy S III — the successor to the Galaxy S II — we thought it would only be fair to compare it to two other recently released devices — the HTC One X and Sony Xperia S — as well as the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy S III’s predecessor: the Galaxy S II. We’re evening comparing it to the Apple iPhone 4S just to spark debate there as well. Let’s get into it!
Anybody knows whether the S3 has a single partition for the internal memory like the Galaxy Nexus or two separate partitions for apps and other stuff like the S2 and HTC One X?

Seems you get one partition for everything in the internal memory. Users seem to get access to 11.35gb of storage in the 16gb version. Wonder why the storage is 2gb+ lower than the S2, it’s like the storage the S2 have minus the system app partition~~

to be honest i think that the sony shouldnt really be in the comparison, instead i would have put in the LG 4X HD. A much more competitive phone in most regards.
I’m really interested to see what motorola release, they’ve been super quiet lately and its annoying. i assume that they are probably going t ohave a full restructure of there range and release a top to bottom setup similar to the HTC One series. just wish it was sooner rather then later.

That was to prevent crApple form being able to throw unwarranted and utterly bogus lawsuits at Samsung over the physical appearance design of the Galaxy devices.
So this is what happens when Samsung has to think for itself. HAHAHAHAHA.

The Samsung Galaxy III is a nice phone but I think it will be HTC year with their X model.
Put it this way, we are spoilt for choices here in Android land 🙂

Although it’s not listed here, I’m currently eyeing off the One S. Coming from a Nexus S, it kind of has everything I want apart from expandable memory. Otherwise, I’ll be going for the Xperia S, due to the absolutely amazing camera which beats the One X as I have seen with my own eyes.
The HTC One X doesn’t record 1080p at 30fps. The highest frame rate I’ve seen mine record at, is 19fps, and I have read some reviews where it has topped out at 21fps. I was VERY disappointed when I discovered that my phone couldn’t manage more than 19fps video recording, given it’s specs.
Doesn’t the HTC One X only have 16GB of storage? I thought it was the One XL that had 32GB. If you’re squishing both models into one column and taking the best of each model (quad core, LTE, etc), then it’s a slightly unfair comparison.
My mistake, it’s the One XL that has 16GB and the One X that has 32GB, according to GSM arena. Which is somewhat baffling, as it seems the XL will come out here later than the X with lower specs apart from the LTE.
They announce that the US will be getting the LTE version in Dec, so I would imagine that IF there was a LTE version for Telstra, then we wouldn’t see it until 2013.

i spoke to Samsung australia…they believe Australia won’t get it until ..July. then the phone has to be modified to work on australian standards. since telstra just released the Samsung S2 4g lte.
I’m not saying larger screen is unworkable. I still use the 4.65″ Nexus as my work phone quite happily. I just happen to prefer my personal G2 4.3″ Screen.
However no one really knows until they handle one and decide for themselves

Also official statement is not plans for it here in Australia. What a let down.
Yeah the 12MP would have been great to see. Glad they pumped the battery up. but as above have said not really anything that reaches out and screams at me “BUY ME” like the SGS2 did when it came out. I think if the Iphone 5 hasnt completed yet they may just add a better camera to top this phone. Anyway will wait for the fall out from the release and see what is said about it before i decide to upgrade (move sideways) from the SGS2.

Disappointed to see that there is no 12MP camera on SGS3. The Xperia S has one. Come on Samsung: one device to rule them all.
Interesting. The SII and SIII has less difference than when iPhone 4
jumped to 4S. It seems the Galaxy is only really going for a cosmetic
upgrade this generation round.
Err… how do you figure that? When the 4 went to the 4s, there was a faster CPU and a better camera in exactly the same shell. The S3 has everything different – new CPU with 4 cores, much bigger and higher resolution screen, completely different case…
Still, I’m not overly impressed with the S3 either – it doesn’t have anything over the One X except potentially better battery life (which would be a big deal). Maybe one of the other manufactureres will take the torch away from Samsung this year for most exciting Android phone? Sony? LG?
Let’s just say that the incremental difference isn’t enough for me to upgrade. The GPU isn’t any better and it’s not as much the holy grail as I thought it would be. It’s interesting because Samsung spends more money on marketing than Apple and Sony on their products in most parts of the developed world. It would be hard for Sony, LG or even HTC to take away their torch at this moment in time. Samsung is on a roll. Though, I would like HTC to push through. The LTE version hasn’t been announced (and even when it’s announced, it’s not certain it will ever come downunder) but it will certainly have the same dual core Snapdragon S4 as the HTC One XL.
That dual core Snapdragon is no slouch, it beats the quad core Tegra 3 in most instances. But given the same SoC, I certainly think the HTC One series looks much better and feels much better than the S3.

The implementation of MirrorLink is a big advantage for me, though Sony have the players but no compatibility in their phones.

I was hoping to swap over to Telstra 4g as my suburb now has it. Shame.
i spoke to Samsung australia…they believe Australia won’t get it until ..July. then the phone has to be modified to work on australian standards. since telstra just released the Samsung S2 4g lte.
Screen is too big. The 4.3″ screen is the sweet spot. I have the SGS2 and the Galaxy Nexus. GNex is too big

Recall reading the 4412 was made with LTE support in mind so I would expect the LTE version to be quad.
