There has been an update from Motorola Australia regarding the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the XOOM 2 on Telstra. That being that the update has been submitted to Telstra for initial testing. There’s no definite timeline for release, however, Motorola Aus stated they expect final testing to finish for a release of the update in Q3. So XOOM 2 owners could be waiting until September, we hope it’s earlier though.

We’re happy to announce some news for our Xoom 2 fans: We have begun testing the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Xoom 2 and submitted the software to Telstra. We will evaluate their feedback and following any required fixes we’ll submit software for a final test.

We’ll give you a specific month of deployment shortly after they begin their final round, however we expect to deliver ICS on Xoom 2 in Q3. Thanks

Not sure if you have seen the new Tablet updates page that lists when software updates for devices like the Xoom 2 are due out. It currently lists that ICS update for the Xoom 2 has completed its Telstra side of testing and now we are just waiting on Motorola who are planning to make it available to customers on 3rd of September.

I wouldn’t hold your breath people. The potential this device had has been long superseeded, and the combination of motorola’s outrageously poor form recently coupled with Telstra’s lack of enthusiasm for their own adopted products means that by the time the xoom2 is graced with modern technology, it’ll be last years device of the year nominee. If you want to stay up with current trends, “stay the hell away from motorola”… Read more »
