While the Android 2.3.6 “Value Pack” update for the original Samsung Galaxy Tab might not bring with it every that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has to offer, it will give you an experience that is semi close. Performance will increase; you’ll get face unlocking; menus have been arranged to that of Android 4.0. So really, it’s better than no update at all; but it will be the last major update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

To receive the update, you’ll need to install Samsung Kies and plug the Galaxy Tab into your PC or Mac to get the update process started. Let us know how it goes. And yes, this update is available for both Vodafone and 3 branded devices.

If it’s anything like the Value pack upgrade for the Galaxy S i9000 phone it will be fairly underwhelming. Still, guess it’s better than nothing.

Good to see you guys are keeping everyone informed about updates to older devices.

Not everyone can afford to jump ship to a new device every year.
