Looks like the writing is on the wall for the 8GB Nexus 7, with a 32GB version of the Nexus 7 in both Wi-Fi and 3G HSPA flavours rumoured to be announced at the Google ‘Playground is Open’ event next week in New York, Australian retailers are beginning to drop the price on the 16GB version of the Nexus 7 in order to clear stock. The 8GB version of the Nexus 7 has now gone from a status of ‘In Stock’ on the Google Play Store when I checked it earlier this morning to ‘Coming Soon’. Whilst not a definitive EOL it sure is convenient timing with the event coming in just a few days.

Has there been any more talk of the budget version of the Nexus 7 with a single core processor? Or was that just a baseless rumour?

Seems like Google will be moving away from the budget end of the market a little bit if they remove the 8GB option… Seems a little strange now that Apple are going toe to toe now at the higher end of the 7″ tablet market… A more budget version of the Nexus 7 would make some sense. I’m not saying the the current offerings aren’t great value, just in terms of raw dollars, they could offer something cheaper with lower specs…

Who says the new devices will cost much more? Perhaps they can now give you twice as much Flash storage for the same cost, compared to the launch prices.

To me this rumour sounds like total BS. If they used such cheap hardware how would it work with future updates, i doubt the hardware could handle it. I really doubt it ?

Shhh

CAnt wait for the 32gb….way better than the Ipad mini
