Huawei Ascend Mate - Harvey Norman
Looking for something in a phone with a large screen but the Galaxy Note isn’t quite doing it for you? Meet the Huawei Ascend Mate. Announced at CES in January this year, the Ascend Mate is a monster of a phone in both specs and size, with the main feature being the massive 6.1″ HD Display that dominates the front of the phone. The Ascend Mate is powered by one of the largest batteries available for a phone a 4,050mAh behemoth that should keep even the most demanding Smartphone user happy.

Harvey Norman are offering the phone exclusively for $429 and generously including a Boost unlimited pre-paid starter kit that includes unlimited Talk, Text and MMS and 3GB of data, valued at $40. The phone is on pre-order currently with no confirmed delivery date as yet, it’s available in black and comes with quite a decent line up of specifications for a phone in this price range :

  • 6.1″ HD(720×1280) IPS+ LCD Display
  • 1.5 GHz Quad-core Huawei K3V2 CPU
  • 2GB RAM
  • 8MP Rear Camera with 1MP Front Facing Camera
  • Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth
  • Android 4.1
  • 4,050mAh Battery
  • 163.5×85.7×9.9 mm @ 198 grams

The screen on the Ascend Mate offers not only size but incorporates ‘Magic Touch’ a technology which allows you to use the screen even while you’re wearing gloves, a very important factor considering we’re about to head into Winter.

Huawei are a solid company to consider and the Ascend Mate looks to be quite a good model to add to their lineup, although the screen size could be an issue. We definitely want to get our hands on this phone to check it out in the flesh but head over to the Harvey Norman Website and check it out for yourself.

I have a SGIII. Is it worth upgrading to this phone?

huge_hands_harry

I put one on order and got a response from HN.
It is the 16GB version and will be available at the end of April.
So long to wait!

32GB or 16GB? so confusing

Monkey

which version of Boost?? Optus or Telstra?

Daniel Tyson

I believe Boost is now on the Telstra network

Monkey

considering Harvey Norman are an Optus dealer, that seems a bit strange

Chris

This phone looks like a beast! Definitely keen to see one in the flesh.
