The BBC have finally seen the light, expanding access to their BBC Sports app outside of countries in Europe. The list of features included in the app and the amount of sports covered is nothing short of impressive. It is currently one of the most comprehensive reporting apps available for football fans that’s out there, being a European based app there’s also an impressive amount of Formula 1 coverage as well.

The list of features includes

  • Home screen displaying the top stories across the world of sport.
  • A page for Football, Formula 1, Cricket, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Tennis, Golf
  • A page for all the other main sports, plus major events
  • Daily live text commentaries from BBC journalists
  • Detailed football live scores, match stats and text commentaries
  • A full season’s football fixtures and results searchable by day
  • Football tables
  • Pages for football team and league news
  • Share stories and results by email and on social networks
  • The BBC will be adding new features to the app and will notify you when they become available in Google Play

The BBC Sports app, understandably requires a Wi-Fi or 3G connection to access content. The app is 2.3MB in size and supports devices running Android 2.2(Froyo) and above. Surprisingly there is no 10″ Tablet support, with the description stating that the app is only available for devices, 7″ and under, although hopefully this will be one of the new features listed as future upgrades. Check the app out now in Google Play.
