After being announced as being on-sale at retailers across Australia last Thursday, we have yet to see a single retailer actually receive stock into their stores, but fear not, they are on order. But, if part of the process of purchasing a Nexus device is buying it directly from Google through the Play Store then Google has advised Ausdroid tonight, that they will begin selling the Wi-Fi versions of the Nexus 7 (2013) through Google Play on September 10th.

Google has not advised exactly what time the device will be going on-sale through Google Play, but taking cues from the launch of the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 last year in November they could possibly go on-sale around mid-day. Of course any hardware purchased through Google Play will attract a delivery charge – for the current crop of Nexus devices this charge is $20 on top of the cost of your device.

They’re not live yet but you can keep checking these links for the 16GB which will sell for $299 and the 32GB which will sell for $339. No word on accessories for the Nexus 7 for Australia, but in other parts of the world the Nexus 7 Sleeve went on-sale for USD$29.99 at the same time as the tablet appeared.

While we continue to look for the Nexus 7 (2013) at retail in Australia, if you really want to purchase your tablet through Google Play, you don’t have long to wait.

Will you buy a Nexus 7 (2013) from a retailer or wait for it to become available through Google Play?

It’s sitting on it’s wireless charger right now, looking rather awesome! Thanks for the well wishes, hope I haven’t annoyed anyone with the constant updates!!

Dude

Yesterday I picked up the 32GB LTE version of the Nexus 7 2013 from Scorptec for $439. Nice device.

Grahame Pollock

Have they solved the issues raised in the US?

Harpersneil

Don’t know if you’ve bought one by now, but I picked mine up yesterday and I’m massively impressed with it so far. Vanilla Android is fantastic on in 7″ form factor and that screen is amazing!

I haven’t had any issues so far.

David Buse

I’m picking mine up from JB Hi Fi tonight.

My local store has 10 in stock.

Andrew

Already snapped up my 32gb wifi model from JB Hi Fi. Great tablet though. Stock Android is a dream to use (especially after owning a Galaxy Tab).

Good to see it being released on the Play Store.

Grahame Pollock

Have they fixed the erratic touchscreen and RR problems?

fishman18

Got my 32gb WiFi from jb HiFi in Sydney cbd last night…good guys also have them, so stock is out there already…

How can Google justify the Australia tax on Google play do they not realise that we geeks get news from the US telling us the US prices

bearddroid

this make no sense, i purchased my unit from MLN (32gb WiFI). They had stock of both LTE and 32gb wifi and i was told they have been receiveing stock every day since the 30th of aug

TT

too late for Google release that. So i changed my decision and i will buy nexus 10 2013.

Andrew

No one seemed to notice me mention in the chat, but I got my 2 Nexus 7’s from JB HiFi on Albert Street in Brisbane. They had 4 other tablets behind the counter when I went in at 6pm and on the phone before them she mentioned that they had been selling them all day.

spentan

Already got one when I was in USA last month,

Great device, though the 7in widescreen is not as good for web browsing as a 4:3 iPad Mini
