You’d be forgiven for missing the launch of the Sony Xperia Z1, with all the announcements made at IFA last night there was a large number of devices from various manufacturers announced, but in terms of camera, the Sony Xperia Z1 was one of the most promising. Will you be ordering the Xperia Z1?
anyone know why the UK get a free wireless speaker and a smartwatch free with their pre-order or the z1 and we just get the z1?
are they being charged more?
Looks like its not 4G dual band ? So not compatible with whole 4G plus rollout optus are doing
Sucks that Vodafone aren’t carrying it, they have been good stocking most high-end phones I’ve wanted, until now. I’ll probably go for the nexus 5~ instead, that will undoubtedly be released along with KK instead. Just have to wait longer :/
Only if there is a google play edition
You lose the cool stuff that makes the phone worth buying.
Exactly. There’s not much point in a Google Play version when we’re talking sony’s UI. TouchWiz, on the other hand…
If you want a big flat 5″ phone with a good camera and Stock Android, then wait a month for a Nexus.
Good call! I played with a 2013 Nexus 7 this afternoon and was seriously impressed! My Nexus 4 is epic… but I’m starting to wonder if I should have waited for the 5!
I’m with you on this one, I HATE skins on Android and Sony’s is one of the worst. But I accept that other people like them, so who am I?!
This phone would be epic with CM10 on it though…
Sony’s is actually one of the best. It’s very light.
I accept that Sony’s skin has improved a lot, but I don’t like it. I shouldn’t have said “it’s one of the worst”, I should have just left it at “I don’t like it”!
No offence Sony fans, we all love Android!
Does there need to be a Google Play edition?? Sony support AOSP very, very well. In fact they are basically the only ones doing it atm.
There will definitely be custom roms mimicking PE that are very stable.
That is assuming of cause that there isn’t one, which there definitely could be.
What can I say, I have a hankering for a vanilla kitkat
Of curse voda aren’t carrying it. >__>
Seriously tempted. Seriously. But, was hoping for the rumoured Z1 mini, which got no mention at all, from what I could see.
If they release a mini, I’d imagine it’d be a few months after release of this. At least that’s what most of the other manufacturers do, maybe with the exception of Samsung.
