Although it’s not Sony’s newest device, the relatively new Xperia Z Ultra — a larger Xperia Z — will be launching here in Australia very, very soon. Sony Mobile confirmed that Optus would be the only carrier to have the device at launch. Retailers such as Harvey Norman, Dick Smith, and Sony’s own stores will also stock the device, with Harvey Norman confirming to Ausdroid that it will available for pre-order online later this afternoon for $733 — Dick Smith will also open pre-orders this afternoon.

For the first 250 people to pre-order the Xperia Z Ultra, they will receive a free CP12 Protective Cover with integrated battery, valued at $250.

The Xperia Z Ultra features a 6.4-inch 1920 x 1080 (344 ppi) Full HD Triluminous Display, a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, runs Android 4.2.2, and supports 4G LTE. Sony Mobile is touting the phone as being “the world’s largest and slimmest Full HD smartphone display” which just might be the most pointless claim to fame.

Accessories

Alongside the Xperia Z Ultra, and the Xperia Z1, will be a range of accessories — those of which were announced at IFA this morning. These include:

  • QX10 / QX100 High-Performance ‘lens-style’ mountable cameras
  • Smart Imaging Stand IPT-DS10M
  • Smartwatch 2
  • SBH52 Smart Bluetooth Handset
  • MDR-10BT NFC headphones and SRS-BTS50 wireless speaker –
  • SmartTags NT3
  • DK30 & DK31 – magnetic charging docks

Pricing for each of these is yet to be confirmed.

This is my phone. Need more information!

Just remember that Xperia Z Ultra does not have LED flash. I regretted after I got my Galaxy S. I would never make the same mistake again.

This, and the lack of AMOLED, are my drawbacks. But I will have to live. There is a big screen, should cast a lot of white light if I need to…it will get me by. Maybe AMOLED again in the future…

WHERE DO I ORDER!!! NEED A LINK!!! 🙂

It finally turned up at Harvey Norman’s site after watching it pretty constantly. I searched this morning for “Xperia” and ultra was finally one of the results that came back. Got the battery case too, which should be perfect for my needs!
