There have been a few recent updates for Nexus devices, but they have been so minor that they haven’t been deemed to have a “point” added by Google.

That is until now. Rolling out to Nexus 7 devices, with the LTE model being the first cab off the rank, Google introduces Android 4.3.1. What this update brings is, umm, Google Keep as a standard app for Jelly Bean. There are probably a few bug and security fixes happening in the background, but the general feel of the update is that it’s pretty minor.

But there are probably plenty of features that you might not be aware of  that have been standard since 4.2, such as the clock can show multiple time zones:

The stopwatch can track time, count laps and splits and share your times:

Since getting the update yesterday on my LTE Nexus 7 I’ve noticed a small increase (it was already quite fast) in general performance. Most apps open and populate a little more quickly now. I don’t think it’s the “placebo effect” of a new update as I’ve been using the tablet daily and can notice the difference. The 2 exceptions to this are Google Drive and YouTube. Not here yet but mine is not LTE so may not need it.

Got mine last night. So glad I bought a Nexus device now. What a breath of fresh air after waiting forever for Samsung to do Android updates. I’m converted!
