Samsung and the International Olympic Committee have joined forces to make the Galaxy Note 3 the ‘official Olympics Games phone‘ for the Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi, Russia. The decision was a part of the initiative to make the Olympics the most wireless, seamless and paperless olympic games ever, and the Galaxy Note 3 is a device that is more than capable of making that happen.

As a part of the initiative every athlete will be given a free Galaxy Note 3 to help capture and share their experience at the Olympics — so be sure to follow your favourite athletes on various social networks.

Samsung have also updated their WOW app to ensure all users can view up-to-date news and results for the Olympics so that you never miss out on the action.

I don’t know if this is the best idea, I have an immediate association between Sochi and Russia’s oppressive homophobic laws and I’m sure I’m not alone. I thought of it the moment I read this headline. Not the greatest for Samsung’s brand image.

I guess Grindr won’t be available.

I first learned about Android with the Samsung Galaxy being continually promoted throughout the last Winter Olympics. We have come a long way since then.
