It was only a little over a week ago when we wrote that the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Nexus 7 would be starting, with the update for the Nexus 4 “coming soon”. Well, the last week seemed to never end, with Nexus owners tapping on System Updates every hour to no avail.

Reports are now coming in that the Android 4.4 update is happening in Australia now.  So far the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013) Wi-Fi model and Nexus 10 have started to receive the KitKat update. There has been no word on the Nexus 7 (2012) 3G no Nexus 7 (2013) 4G yet, but they can’t be far behind.

If you haven’t received the update yet, don’t fret as the roll out will happen progressively around Australia.

Have you received the OTA update for your Nexus device? What do you think? Let us know in the comments!

Got KitKat this morning at 5am on my Nexus 7 (2012).

Got KK on my 2013 LTE N7 this morning 🙂

Nothing all weekend on my Nexus 7 2013… Not holding my breath for 4.4 update notification being there when i get home tonight.

still waiting on my Nexus 7 (12) for update !

Updated my Nexus 7 (2012) over the weekend…Flash is broken on 4.4 🙁

My Nexus 7(4g) 2013 model got updated yesterday morning. Working fine including the Radio(4g).

Just got the 4.4 update for both my Nexus 4 and my Nexus 7 2013… Completely underwhelmed by the changes. White notification bar icons and slightly different app icons… The 4.4 ‘changes’ have been completely overhyped. Bring on the 5.0 update, I want something more radical.

I still have not received a thing on my nexus 7

Will wait for SmoothROM to update to KitKat 🙂

just finished downloading the kit kat update on my N4…. and have noticed that it doesnt seem to have the full sweep of kit kat new features..

the size of icons are the same
    app draw is the same
the folders are still black from JB

    has anyone else noticed this??

I side loaded the Google experience launcher. Etc.. So mine looks like the N5

Typing on my Nexus 7 now.
    Yeah, I want Big Icons!

But this new keyboard is nice.
But emojis don’t work on Discus. 🙁

Yeah, and there is no blending on the button or navigation bars. No updated launcher, no swipe left for Google now. Basically JB, without network traffic indicators. A downgrade….??? WTF?

^ This. Plus, no way to add more screens, new dialer doesn’t look up unknown numbers… I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot of other 4.4 features that were left out of Nexus 4 OTA update.
So, not only do we discover that Google only supports our Nexus 4 for 18 months, we also get a watered down version of the new OSs while we are.
I’m going to try and sideload the Google Experience launcher now, I feel like a total moron for waiting for the OTA.

Nexus 4 is updating now 🙂

Nexus 7 2012 I side loaded.. My display seems to be having a few issues though.. I’ll try to unlock and certain pixels light up it took a good 5 mins for the screen to come back.. Its done it twice now and I have never seen that before

Got the Nexus 7 (2012) – no update as yet, but it has root access. Anyone else in the same boat?

    Updated Nexus 10 this morning.

Got it this morning on my N7 2013. I’ve been running the new Google launcher for a few days anyway but the transparency at the top and bottom takes it up to a new level. Battery life seems normal. All in all worth the wait.

Nothing on my N7 2013 yet.

Got the update on my N7 (2012) this morning too. Finalllly!

Gaaaah give me the damn update!

N4 updated this morning. N7 still waiting.

I got the update this morning on my Nexus 7 (2013) 4G

I got my ota today on my nexus 7 2012…it feels a lot smoother and less glitchy….I’m sure it’s not placebo

I restored my 2012 N7 to 4.4 through Wug’s Toolkit last night (don’t feel the need for root/AOKP) and it immediately offered up the 2MB bug fix update, so that’s a win in my book.

Got it this morning on my nexus 7 (2013)! I really like the look of it!
