Just days after Google released Android 4.4.1 for its Nexus range of devices, the search giant has pushed out an update to Android 4.4.2, rolling out to Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 devices this morning.

The official changelog remains unchanged, acknowledging camera fixes for the Nexus 5, and bug fixes and performance improvements for other devices in the range.

With the update applied, we’re seeing the following version details on a Nexus 5:

  • Android version: 4.4.2
  • Kernel: 3.4.0-gadb2201 [email protected] #1 Wed Nov 20…
  • Build: KOT49H

We’ve got the following download links available for users who wish to download in advance of receiving the OTA update notification in the fullness of time:

How to make 4.4.2 version now we’ve 4.4.1 Galaxy Nexus phone

Monica Oda

I am waiting for the Nexus 10 cost to drop.

V-Man

I side loaded 4.4 to my nexus 7 2012 but just received the OTA to 4.4.2

I’m a bit over the nexus stuff myself I just got a galaxy S 3 and am much happier now. If I get bored I’ll flash a custom ROM. I had way to many compatibility problems with my N4

Jiten Meitei

Can I get the features of the Android 4.4.1 if I get the update of 4.4.2 directly from 4.4?

Dave

WHy do I not have this update yet?? can someone please explain why other have received it and I have not?

AdamM

I’m still waiting for 4.4.1 (or now 4.4.2) on both my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2012) devices. Hey ho, it’ll get here eventually.

Wayno

Me too – same devices 🙂

Gregory Williams

Google stagger release updates so if there is a major bug not many people are effected by it. They do it with every update, if you haven’t noticed,

Sean

Only thing I notice is that the notification bar is translucent on the lock screen and they changed out the remaining blue bars on the app tray for white. Also a few revisions to they keyboard symbol layout and typing sounds. Just got it on my 2012 nexus 7.

vtwkang

Pleasantly surprised when I received the update today.

John Heller

Got the update this morning on Nexus 5. Went straight from 4.4 to 4.4.2. Camera is noticeably faster, Photos is the default viewer.
Also, is it just me or has the colour saturation on the display been increased slightly?

Vossy

Also skipped 4.4.1 and went straight to 4.4.2, only got my nexus 5 a week ago too

Andy Matee

Why hasn’t the update arrived to my nexus 5?

Dave

same here man, I don’t know whats going on? I don’t wanna mess with ADB so Im just gonna wait

vtwkang

Google typically staggers its Android OTA updates, so you’ll get it soon enough.

If you’re impatient, you can download the images from the links in the article and install it yourself, although that’s somewhat more complicated than simply waiting for the OTA update.

Paul Gus

Just got 4.4.2 on my Nexus 7 2012 (from 4.4.1), too early to tell any difference though…

Harpersneil

Does anyone KNOW if there’s any truth in the fact that the order in which people received updates has nothing to do with where they live. ie Asking if anyone has received the update “in Australia” is pointless.

Joshua Hill

I did get 4.4 update within a day or two for my N7 2012 but had to wait almost the full two weeks for my 2013 model update. Other users here say they’ve gotten the 4.4.2 update but I’d certainly appreciate it if they were more detailed and confirmed they received this OTA.

jason

Skipped 4.4.1 to 4.4.2

Cam

Same

toast

Hey yes. It’s 4.4.2. Just installed it a few moments ago.
I would assume they found a bug at the last moment.

Anthonaut

Still waiting for 4.4.1 on my N5!

Harpersneil

Same!

Dave

Yet to receive 4.4.1 on my 2013 N7 ^_^’

Joshua Hill

Me too. Anybody received the 4.4.1 update OTA in Australia?

Harpersneil

Not me.

Joshua Hill

Just clicked the check for updates option and I’m downloading 4.4.2 now. Hope you get it soon too.

Ronaldo Rivera

Josh I wouldn’t hold my breath. We seem to be in the latter stages of OTA rollouts. Just adb sideload it then happy days :).

Dave

4.4.2 just came through this morning, skipping 4.4.1.

Avon Perera

The HDR+ mode in the camera now has a progress indicator

nitzer71

Was already the case for Nexus 5 with 4.4.1

Avon Perera

My N5 skipped 4.4.1 and went straight to 4.4.2

zipfox

.. still waiting for even 4.4.1 for my N5 🙁
