HTC have announced that they will hold press events on 25 March in London and New York for the release of their 2014 flagship. Obviously, we don’t have any solid facts about the new One, or M8, but what we do have are a lot of rumours.

Leaks show that the One 2 will be basically a beefed-up One, with the following specs –

  • 5-inch display with 1920×1080 resolution, offering a pixel density of 440ppi
  • Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.3GHz
  • Adreno 330 GPU
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB on-board storage
  • Android 4.4 (KitKat)

If what we’ve seen so far is true, the One 2 will share much of its design with its predecessor, but with the notable change that the capacitive buttons have been replaced with on-screen navigation buttons.

HTC need the One 2 to do well – they’re circling the drain as it is, and definitely can’t afford another bad year. Here’s hoping they’ve learned a little about marketing since last year.

Specs seem fairly similar to the Nexus 5 which can be had for a fraction of the price this will launch at.

You could say that about any phone with the snapdragon 800. The 5 isn’t even great. Bad battery, bad camera.

Really… I have a 5, it is great, battery is just fine and so is the camera. for the price and what I do with it can’t beat it. If you want a great camera get a camera, you can get one for a few hundred that kills any camera on a phone yet the price of the 5 and the camera will still be less or the same as a new top range phone.

With the One 2 sounding like very much like an evolutionary update to the One and, not so far, appearing to bring anything unexpected and new to the party, I don’t think it will be the saviour for HTC.
