HP 8

HP’s entry back into the mobile tablet market has been a slow one, their first tablet the WebOS running Touchpad failed to the point where they were forced to sell off stock in a fire-sale and their subsequent entry into the Android tablet market has been aimed more at the low end than the more premium range and that trend looks set to continue with the HP 8.

The HP 8 falls very much within the category of a budget tablet with low end specs and a price to match. The full list of specs for the HP 8 include:

  • 7.85” multi-touch IPS touchscreen display (1024×768)
  • 1.0GHz A31 ARM Cortex™ A7 Quad Core Processor
  • 1GB DDR3 SDRAM
  • 16GB storage, expandable to 32GB via microSD card
  • 2.0MP Rear Camera, 0.3MP Front-facing Camera
  • WiFi: 802.11b/g/n (Miracast compatible)
  • Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean)
  • 3800mAh Battery
  • 7.89×5.37×0.31inches @ 312Grams

HP are offering 25GB of cloud storage with Box as part of the deal, as well as Kingsoft Office, Snapfish Photo connectivity and editing software and their HP ePrint service.

HP have advised that the HP 8 will be available in the US for US$170. We have contacted HP Australia for comment on if or when the tablet will be available here in Australia.
