While announcing their annual developer conference earlier this year, Google addressed the problem of the yearly rush by developers to gain tickets for the event by announcing that potential attendees would need to apply for the opportunity to purchase a ticket, today they’ve announced that there will be a two day window to apply opening in April.
The opportunity to put your name forward as an interested party, will open on April 8th and remain open till April 10th, after which time Google will randomly select applicants and forward ticket purchase confirmation emails. The process was defined in a Google+ post on the Google Developers page :

Note: If you do want to attend it’s pretty expensive with ticket prices set last year at US$900 Standard/US$300 Academic.
On the Google Developers blog, Billy Rutledge, Director of Developer Relations, also announced the Google IO Website for the 2014 event which runs from June 25th to 26th. The website is live and full of HTML5 animations, which should lead to some interesting fun as we saw last year.
We’ll certainly be attempting to get an Ausdroid rep to Google IO – thus beginning our yearly campaign for Google Australia to get us a press pass – but we’ll be throwing our hat in the general ring as well when registrations open, to hopefully bring you coverage from on the ground in San Francisco in June.

Good to hear Ausdroid might make it there this year, seeing how keen you were last year to do so.
I was hoping to attend while up in Canada during May had they kept IO at the same time as last year.
