German supermarket chain Aldi have just released their latest catalogue with specials beginning this Saturday, the 28th of June. The latest addition to their ‘Special Buys’ range, includes a new 5″ Bauhn branded smartphone named the Sphere B5 and will be selling for $249.
The phone offers some updated spaces from the previous model Bauhn phone that the chain offered all the way back in January. The previous model was a very low-end affair, but it looks like Bauhn has stepped up their game and is offering some decent specs:
- 5.0″ IPS LCD Display
- 1.3GHz Quad Core Processor
- 1GB Ram
- 8MP rear camera, 2.0MP front facing
- 16GB storage expandable to 32GB via MicroSD Card
- Bluetooth
- WiFi iEEE 802.11 b/g/n
- Android 4.2.2
- Wireless Connectivity: 2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900Mhz,
3G: WCDMA 850 / 2100 Mhz - Dual-SIM
- 1750mAh removable battery
You can read a full list of the specs for the Sphere B5 on the Bauhn website here.
Along with this, Aldi are also selling a universal smartphone case for $12.99 which is to go on sale at the same time as the Bauhn Sphere B5 Dual-SIM smartphone.
As with all electrical products sold through Aldi stores, the Bauhn phone will come with a 60 Day Money Back Guarantee as well as the usual 1 Year Warranty. If you’re interested in this phone, head along on Saturday morning to an Aldi store near you.
Everything on this phone seemed to work well except for its signal strength and ringer volume.
Kept loosing signal where other phones I have are getting 4 of 5 bars. Would regularly dropout. Also ringer volume max is too low, can’t hear from the next room. Returned for refund after 28 days. …… and yes I do know how to operate volume controls and other settings. My Nokia Windows phone is a mile ahead, except for screen size.
well guys I have bought one now and am really happy with it and gotta say that they give 6 months trial or return to store if not happy and would like to see samsung etc to match that —soon as u open the box thats it with them and no return and cant check it out to see how well they shape up aldi for me
6 months?
When did they up their no questions return period from 60 days, to 6 months?
“expandable to 32GB via SD Card.” You can only stick a 16GB card in it?
And 5″ screen… yeah, and… what’s the resolution? I am guessing if they aren’t going to brag about it being “HD” it isn’t 720p.
(I know I am being overly picky. It’s a $250 phone for Aldi shopping mums.)
16GB + 32GB microSD
ie. 48GB, 16 +32GB
Jeni gonna be so happy!
This Aldi Bauhn device is, yet again unsurprisingly, a Telstra 3G bands device.
My LG P500 Optimus One, which is well overdue for replacement, is on Optus.
moto g is better for the same price…
The Moto G price is slightly to somewhat more expensive.
Apart from the yet to become available Moto G LTE, the Moto G has no microSD card capability.
Infact the Moto G is cheaper, it’s $238 at Officeworks and Good Guys!!
And yes a much better phone than this mystery homebrand phone!!
