L Preview

When the Android L preview was released it scared thousands of owners Nexus 4, 10 and earlier Nexus 7 2012 as the images were only available for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013, however, fear no longer! Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and Nexus 7 2012 (wifi) images have all been leaked to the internet.

Earlier today, incomplete source code for Android L was released along with an updated image for Android L.  The image was build number LPV81 (while the original image was LPV79) and was released onto the  Android L preview website.

Android L leak

The image link and image itself have been pulled from the website and the Web elsewhere.  However, it gives us insight into which devices will receive the update.  As stated above the older devices will receive a preview image, this most likely means that they will receive the full release too, which is slightly surprising as Google used to have 18 months of support for its Nexus devices.

This could really show that Google was serious about older, weaker devices being able to run the newer OS, or it could just be for developers that haven’t upgraded to a newer model yet.

You can pick up the earlier LPV79 build for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 and we will report when the LPV81 build is out along with the extra devices attached.

What’s the expected official launch date for Android L; does anyone know?

Thought this isn’t the update, it shows that what I stated in the article is true.
