Now that is a good deal! I might pick one up as a backup phone – and what a backup it’d make! There looks like there’s little difference between the Z1c and the Z3c, except for the processor, which isn’t a big jump from the S800 to the S801, the camera is probably the same, the size and look is the same (Z3c is a tiny bit skinnier at 9mm apparently). Though scuttlebut suggests that the Z3c’s larger 4.6″ screen is full HD and that there’s 3GB of RAM – which is crazy talk I know. Oh Sony, why do… Read more »

Wow I thought I was going crazy. Glad to see somebody else thinks there is little difference between the z1 and z3 compacts and at this price the z1 compact is an exciting deal.

Nice looking phone. The 4.3 size screen is a great size but I don’t think that many people are aware that this phone exist unless they check website like Ausdroid or OzBargain.

Consumer awareness does seem quite low. Like the new Z3 compact this phone wasnt carried by as many phone providers as it’s full sized variant which doesn’t help.

A month ago, I would be been excited…

What’s changed in the last month? This is a flagship (hardware wise phone) for roughly $350. I can’t think of any phone available in Australia that would have a better performance/price ratio

The Z3 compact moving from rumour to fact.

So it becomes a question of: Do I go after the now superseded model, or wait for the new one.

How does the release of a nearly identical phone at roughly $200 more or over 50% more expensive make the Z1 compact less exciting?

I would prefer a Z3c. It’s not complicated.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. As I previously stated I don’t see how the Z3 compact makes the Z1 compact any less exciting at such a cheap price point.

It’s not rocket science :p

You just don’t want to lose, do you.
It’s all about me. It’s what I want. I’m not projecting my desires onto anyone else.

I’m not the one who started with insults such as ‘It’s not complicated’ but you try and take the moral high ground all you like 😉

Thankyou. I will.
I am right and good.
You are wrong and evil.

OK guys, enough.

Joking sir.

I was genuinely interested in how you came to the decision that the Z1 compact was no longer exciting at this price point. I stated the reason I thought it was still an exciting buy. Your response to insult me. It’s obvious you are not interested in having a discussion so I wonder why you posted in the first place. So many complicated decision processes you must make before you post things here.

Okay.. I am due for a new phone and I am genuinely poking around the various announcements, seeing what suits me best. On Kogan the Z1c is for sale in the low $400’s. And that interested me. Fast. Nice camera. But thinking maybe 4.3″ was just too small, and I wouldn’t trust it getting Android L. So yesterday, the Z3c rumours comes out. 4.6″… perfect. And it’s more likely to get L. Of course it will come down to price. If it costs $700 or something like that, then it’s beyond my means and I will look elsewhere. It’s just… Read more »

I haven’t seen any rumours about pricing but given the z1 compact was $550 RRP and this is up to $300 cheaper than other similarly, apart from size, spec’d flagships I doubt it’ll be cheaper. I hope they stick with the $550 price tag for others sake even though I wont upgrade but suspect it could increase in price.

Having experienced Telstra’s terribly slow update record for the Z1 compact if OS upgrades are important to you I would recommend not getting a Telstra branded phone.

Is this offer for a Telstra branded one?

I believe so. When I was shopping for my z1 compact approximately 6 months ago the jb HiFi stock was Telstra branded.

Ausdroid just posted an article with pricing from yatango at $660 with a claimed Rep of $760. Not sure how expensive their shipping is. Basically you’re paying close to $300 more.

Well, yeah, I’ve seen the prices. They are beyond me. I am going to relax and see what happens with the Nexus X in a month or so. Failing that, see what a Moto X costs, or even just get a good ol’ Nexus 5.

Because the Z3 Compact will be the newer model. Most folks won’t want to buy last year’s model, even at cheap bargain prices.

It may be a newer phone but it’s basically the same phone. As i said price/performance the Z3 compact can’t compete with the Z1 compact. I would hope people reading Ausdroid base their buying decisions on more than what happens to be the newer phone.

The Z1 compact was released this year so until 2015 it is still technically this years phone.
