Xperia Z3

Xperia Z3
Tonights announcement of the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact showed off a pair of devices which are both stylish and have some great features like IP65/68 water and dust resistance, as well as PS4 remote play. The good news is that the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact will be arriving in Australia later this year.

The Xperia Z3 will arrive on all four national carriers – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone Australia and Virgin Mobile. The Xperia Z3 Compact however appears to only be going to Telstra and Optus, but that may change with Sony Australia advising that these two are the only carriers confirmed at this stage.

Peter McKeon, Managing Director, Sony Mobile Communications Oceania said of the new Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact phones

Australians demand and deserve greatness from their smartphone – in design, camera, battery life and entertainment experiences. That’s precisely what we have delivered with Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact, while driving leading innovations in our unique Sony camera experiences and, for the first time, PS4 Remote Play. Size does matter and Australians also deserve choice, which is why we’ve brought the best of Sony to the large screen Xperia Z3 for immersive entertainment, as well as the smaller, lighter Xperia Z3 Compact that doesn’t compromise on features.

As well as being available on carriers, the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact will be made available through Sony Online, Sony Kiosks and Centres as well as through major electronics retailers.

While Sony hasn’t said anything about the Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet, we hope it’s coming down under as well. We look forward to seeing more information on pricing and also which colours the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact will be made available in, closer to the release date.

Are you looking forward to an Xperia Z3 or Xperia Z3 Compact?

I just can’t wait to replace my SGS3 with a Z3 Compact. Awesome hardware and software, perfect size and great battery size for its size. Can’t ask for more!

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Hopefully the Z3 compact isn’t too expensive on a plan. Mum is due for an upgrade soon and she doesn’t like spending heaps every month.

If cost is a concern you can get the z1compact for $386 outright from jb HiFi. Adds zero dollars a month to your bill for the equivalent of $16 a month if you break it down over 24 months.

Hi Josh, just wondering where you got that price from? The JB HiFi website has the Z1 Compact for $586, a notable difference from the $386 you suggest. Cheers.

It was an earlier Ausdroid article. I can’t post links in Disqus at Ausdroid, they don’t seem to allow it, but if you Google ‘z1 compact 386 ausdroid’ it’s the first result that comes up.

Not sure how long the price drop is for, instructions on how to get it are included in the article. ‘To be eligible for the special price, you need to subscribe to their Instant Deals mailing list. and you’ll soon receive an email with a unique single-use bar-code voucher. Take that voucher to a store, and you’ll be able to get the deal.’

Thanks!
