The Nexus 9 WiFi model is now available from Google Play, with orders winging their way to Australians now through couriers, but the ability to pick one up at retail is not looking likely at least according to Australian retailer Bing Lee.

Though the Nexus 7 was carried fairly widely by retailers at launch, with the tablet remaining quite popular throughout both iterations, it seems the Nexus 9 won’t be, but that’s not from a lack of trying. We’ve been approaching many Australian retailers about retail availability of the Nexus 9, and Bing Lee have advised that stock is quite hard to get a hold of. The tablet will apparently be quite scarce at retail, at least until next year, with Bing Lee advising :

There will be very little stock in the market for the remainder of the year with no retail presence.

For their part, HTC have been deferring queries on Nexus branded products to Google, who we’ve approached for comment, but so far we’ve yet to hear back from them. We’ll update if there’s any further information, but if you’re in the market for a Nexus 9, Google Play is looking like your best option.

LOL! No surprise what so ever there. Google absolutely SUCK at communication. Pretty sad really considering they are a multi-billion dollar company that specializes in communication and collaboration, products and service.

Absolutely right. It will be a pity if it’s not available via retailers before Christmas. It’s a very good alternative to the iPad Air 2 and I think that more customers should be made aware of it.

With this move, Google have handed the Australian tablet market to crApple on a silver platter.
