The Smartwatch 3 from Sony, their first Android Wear device, was launched by Sony all the way back at IFA in September. Sony then showed it off at the Australian launch of the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact, advising it would hit stores within 2-3 weeks, a month and a half later and the Sony Australia website has finally listed the watch, advising it will be ‘coming soon’ with a $299 price tag.

The Smartwatch 3 comes with a 1.6” 320×320 TFT LCD Transflective display which Sony says will be great for visibility in bright sunlight, it’s also the first Android Wear device to feature a GPS, which combined with the on-device music playback and ability to pair with Bluetooth headsets, makes this watch quite attractive to runners.

The Smart watch 3 will arrive with a removable Black band, but has been shown off with other colours including Lime, Pink and White, as well as a metal band due to launch next year.

The Sony Smartwatch 3 is currently showing on the Sony Australia website where it will also be sold with free delivery in Australia. We also hope to see it on Google Play, but like the Moto 360, it may be limited to retail sales. We hope to hear more from Sony Australia on the actual launch date soon.
