Google has updated Google Play Music, and besides the usual bug fixes and other joy that updates usually include, there’s a few new design changes in the latest version as well.

As usual the rollout is staggered, but having received it on the office phone this morning, I can confirm it can’t be far away for those who haven’t received it yet.

Here’s some of the new features we’ve found:

  • Navigation drawer is now full height, and it looks better
  • Artist bio and history on artist pages
  • A back/rewind button is now present on the lockscreen and notification
  • Library tabs are the same colour as the header
  • My Library looks a lot nicer
  • Animations when selecting playlists

Do you like the new update? Let us know if you’ve got it and what you think.

In description it says updated to include video. Has anyone managed to see a music video linked to a song? I havent come across one yet

I’d say it would if you had YouTube Music Key as the services are now linked. Guessing Scott may be able to tell us if he’s seeing it as he has Music Key

Still no sexy animations for the Nexus 7 version… I wonder if it’s a hardware limitation.

Thanks for update Google, looks great!… but when are we getting a proper desktop application!?

(To be fair, Ausdroid have written an article on a Third Party sollution)

You’re right, there was an article about that desktop app which I’d like to read again. Can anyone please post the link to it?

I’d have thought a desktop application would go against Google’s entire web-based philosophy. I don’t see it happening to be honest.
