Sony brought the Xperia E4 to us earlier this month, though we didn’t see a local announcement of the phone. Today’s announcement of the E4g might shed some light on that, with confirmation this morning that we’ll see the E4g come to the Australian market.
Sony pitching the E4g as an easy to use, quality 4G phone and it’s hard to argue with the pedigree – their flagship phones are quite well-regarded around the Ausdroid office so anything that moves those specs a little downmarket is still likely to impress us.
The E4g sports a 4.7-inch 960×540 pixel screen, 1.2 Ghz quad core processor, 5MP rear and 2MP front cameras running Android 4.4 KitKat, powered by a 2300 mAh battery. Sony’s claiming 2-day battery life on the phone, likely brought about through the use of their well-regarded Stamina mode – their phones do seem to sip lightly from the battery under normal use though and its “Ultra Stamina” mode claims to keep core functions running for a week.
There’s no local availability or pricing yet (those are to be announced in the coming weeks). We’ll let you know more when we have it. We’ll be keeping an eye on LTE band compatibility for Australian carriers, too.

Shockingly low resolution specs 5″ is a comfortable screen size this one is too small.
Ah…. ITS A CHEAP BUDGET phone, the specs are perfectly decent as long as Sony don’t ask anything over $200 for it.
I would have considered this as my temp phone if it was equivalent to the Moto G in price and specs.
Looks like it is designed to try to go toe to toe with the 4G Moto E (2015).
