Sony Xperia E4
Sony’s Xperia E4, announced back at the beginning of February has finally made it’s way to Australia, albeit by unofficial means. While Sony intends to eventually release the Xperia E4G (a 4G version of the E4), Expansys Australia has brought in the original and it’s now available for sale.

The Xperia E4 Dual, is a Dual-SIM handset with SIM 1 able to use the 900/2100MHz 3G Network, while the secondary SIM can use a host of 2G networks. The phone is a new design from Sony called the ‘curved OmniBalance design’ a departure of the more squared look of the Xperia Z series and the newer Xperia M series. Spec wise, the phone is classed as mid-range, with fairly mid-range specs to match.

  • 5.0″ 960 x 540 resolution display
  • 1.3 GHz Quad Core MTK MT6582 Processor with ARM Mali-400 MP2 GPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB onboard Storage with microSD card slot up to 32GB
  • 5MP Rear Camera with LED Flash and 2MP Front-facing camera
  • Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n
  • micro-SIM (Dual SIM)
    • SIM 1: 3G 900/2100 MHz
    • SIM 1 & 2: GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
  • 4.4 KitKat

Sony has included Android 4.4 with the Xperia E4, although the initial press release stated that it would arrive with Android 5.0 – so this bodes well for an update – but don’t count on it.

If you’re interested in the Xperia E4 and the curved OmniBalance design, then head over to Expansys Australia to check it out, it’s on-sale now for $185.99 + Shipping ($18 though DHL, or $22 through Toll) but if you’re looking for the 4G version, maybe hold off for a bit.
