As expected, HTC has just announced the HTC One M9+ for the Chinese market at an event in Beijing. The phone has been rumoured for weeks and has finally been made official with some fairly decent specs.
The HTC One M9 Plus is an almost dead-ringer design wise for the HTC One M8, especially from the rear with the Duo-Camera setup. The rest of the body though, is all M9 inspired with the Dual-Tone, Dual-Finish of the HTC Flagship. The Duo-Camera on the M9 Plus has been updated from the UltraPixel camera from the M8, to a 20MP sensor, with the UltraPixel camera moving to the front of the phone.
Other hardware included in the M9 Plus includes a 5.2” 2K (2560×1440) display, MediaTek Helio X10 core processor, 32GB on-board storage and HTC BoomSound™ with Dolby Audio speakers. The BoomSound Speakers are of course split at the bottom with a fingerprint scanner being included. On the Fingerprint Sensor, HTC says:
A new fingerprint sensor, located on the front of the phone for easy access, helps keep your HTC One M9+ secure. Multi-directional sensors make it easy: just place your finger on the sensor in any direction to unlock your phone.
HTC Has included Sense 7 on the phone, including the HTC Theme engine, Blinkfeed and from their description, it appears the HTC Home Widget will also be included.
No pricing or availability has been announced for the phone except the intent to release in China. Whether we see this in Australia at any time we’ll find out as soon as HTC Australia has something to share.
That’s should have been the M9 and not this mediocre M9 they released before! Going back to bad old habits HTC!
I want this phone. I held off on the M9 hoping this one will have the relevant bands for our (Telstra) networks.
Why are HTC making another flagship phone so similar in size to the One M9? This M9+ would make more sense being closer to 6 inches and competing with the Galaxy Notes, iPhone 6+ and Nexus 6s of the world.
