Huawei - Tour De Cure - Raiders
As major sponsor of the Canberra Raiders, Huawei is in a position to leverage the partnership to do some real good for their charitable arm, Tour de Cure. The manufacturer has arrange for the NRL team to have their players, as well as coach Ricky Stuart to sign a special edition Raiders jersey, all of which will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to Tour de Cure.

Tour de Cure has a simple mission, to raise awareness of Cancer and raise funds to cure it. Having Canberra Raiders fans bid on signed jerseys is a great way to both go about raising funds and raising awareness of Tour de Cure and their cause. As befits the cause, the Tour de Cure logo will feature on the limited edition jersey.

Director of Corporate & Public Affairs for Huawei Jeremy Mitchell said

Tour de Cure was a terrific organisation who was making significant contributions to cancer research. Since 2007, Tour de Cure riders, volunteers, support crew, corporate sponsors and other supporters have raised in excess of $16 million and funded over 180 cancer research, support and prevention projects, leading to 13 cancer breakthroughs. We are proud to be involved with the Raiders in promoting awareness and raising money for this worthwhile cause.

The special edition jerseys, which aren’t going to be available through retail channels, will be available for online auction from 4.00pm this Sunday the 24h of May through until Sunday the 31st of May on auction site, allbids.com.au, with all money raised going to Tour de Cure. With the extremely limited edition jerseys only available through the auction, this puts pressure on true Raiders fans to score one of them through the Auction.

The timing of the auction – and the Huawei pursuit which gives fans the chance to win a trip to China – coincides with the NRL’s Kick Bowel Cancer campaign during the month of May. Huawei themselves have committed a minimum $10,000 donation to Bowel Cancer Australia from the online auction, a tidy sum by anyone’s standards.

Canberra Raiders CEO Don Furner said

The Raiders and Huawei have worked together over the course of our partnership to raise much needed money for charity and only last season a similar concept raised a significant amount of money. We hope to once again raise plenty of money and awareness for Tour de Cure this year and encourage our fans to jump online and bid for their favourite player’s jersey.
