Blackberry’s first high-end Android phone could be quite the looker if it makes it to market. Our favourite leaker Evan Blass is back with another render of a Blackberry device running Android, showing a handset that looks to be carrying that curved edge display that Galaxy S6 Edge owners have come to know and love.

When questioned by a user on Twitter about their decision to release the Passport running Android, he replied with this picture of the Blackberry phone which is codenamed ‘Venice’ and heading to AT&T.

The Venice will be quite the high-end handset apparently with a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB of RAM with a fairly decent camera setup consisting of a 5MP front camera, and an 18MP rear camera. The screen is where it gets interesting, the Blackberry Venice will apparently use a 5.4″ Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution display and there’s strong rumours that Samsung will be helping to manufacture the phone, or at least the display.

The big plus to this picture, is that it shows Google apps installed on what appears to be a fairly stock Android interface. A Blackberry hardware device running ‘stockish’ Android has been something we’ve wanted, so this could be great.

While the phone is apparently heading to AT&T, there’s still interest in the Blackberry brand, so it’s possible it could arrive in markets outside the US – and quite frankly it looks pretty enough that I’d love to get a hold of it. Until the phone is announced though, we’ll just have to hope it’s real.

My experience with a sliding keyboard was mixed. Physical keyboard was great, but it makes a decent case impossible, and adds bulk to the phone. I’m pretty happy with Swiftkey now, don’t feel the need to go back to a physical keyboard.

This phone has grabbed my attention, if it’s real of course.

I did enjoyed using the HTC Desire Z with it’s keyboard so if this get’s released here in Australia, I might grab it providing the reviews are good and it does look like what it is in the picture.
