sony-xperia-z5-compact1

Sony is set to announce the next model in the Xperia Z line of flagship Android phones at his year’s IFA conference in Berlin. The anticipated Xperia Z5 is rumored to be coming in three variants a standard, compact and plus version.  Today what looks to be a press image of the compact model has been spied, there is nothing new in this image that we haven’t already seen, but that tells it’s own story. We are seeing very consistent leaks and images of the device line up, suggesting that the previous leaks may actually be similar to the final device.

Sony has yet to have a standout success in the larger international Android Market, it’s not hard to assume that this titan of tech’s past is hoping that the Z5 could be the device that turns around their Android business. Sony’s lack of success certainly isn’t due to a lack of great hardware or model options, Sony’s line-up of Android devices should definitely be considered to be on par with the current big boys of Android. However, in a market where the top end is getting better features -quick charging, high-quality cameras, premium build materials – and the mid to bottom end is getting great hardware at lowering prices – Moto G 3rd Gen, ZenPhone – Sony needs to make products that can go head to head with these devices at both ends of the market if they want to succeed.

Sony does seem to enjoy a good relationship with Australian Carriers and retail outlets which may account for the number of Sony devices that I see in people hands on a daily basis.

Are you excited for Sony’s next high-end offering? What does Sony have to do to make a Sony your next device? Let us know in the comments.
