Google’s new Android ad uses a grand piano to show how boring life could be if we were all the same

If you’re a twitter user, you’ll have noticed that Google’s @android account went a little ‘C’ crazy in the last couple of hours, but it’s all in aid of promoting their latest commercial for Android. The ad shows a pianist playing a couple of pianos, but there’s a neat twist to show off the practicality of Google’s ‘Be together, not the same’ slogan.

Featuring pianist Ji, the ad shows Ji playing two grand pianos but one of them has been modified to play only one note: Middle C. The ad shows off just how ‘Be together, not the same’ works in a more practical way, because when 88 keys all play the same note, life gets a little bit boring. It’s a good commercial and worth a look.

Google also acknowledges that while the ad is cool and makes a solid point, the engineering behind making a grand piano make all 88 keys play the same note is a massive feat in and of itself. The making of video is very cool, so make sure you check that out too.
