Google purchased photo editing company Nik Software all the way back in 2012. After incorporating a number of their mobile editing tools into Snapseed, Google has apparently decided to make their range of desktop photo editing plugins available for free.

The desktop plugins, which you can now download from the Google Nik Software website, include 7 desktop plugins for Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, or Aperture to help you refine, retouch, add filters and manipulate your images quickly. The plugin are available from March 24 (today) to download free says Google.

Google will instead concentrate on developing the mobile photo editing software like Snapseed and of course Google Photos.

For users who purchased the plugins, there’s good news for people who purchased them this year, with Google saying:

If you purchased the Nik Collection in 2016, you will receive a full refund, which we’ll automatically issue back to you in the coming days.

Unfortunately if you purchased the tools earlier than that, Google won’t be issuing refunds.

If you want to check out any of the plugins, head over to the Nik Software website to download them for both Windows and Mac now.
