asus zenvolution event computex

ASUS has announced that it will be hosting a press event during Computex in Taipai at the end of this month. Dubbed Zenvolution, the event is widely expected to herald the announcement of the next generation Zenfone, potentially amongst some other Zen-branded devices. The event will kick off at 2pm local time (or around 4pm Australian Eastern time), the day before Computex kicks off on May 31st.

The Zenfone 2 was one of the first smartphones on the market with 4GB of RAM as standard, and it was very competitive on price, costing consumers around half the amount of the 2015 flagships.

There hasn’t been much by way of rumour about the device, beyond what we covered last month. We’re expecting USB-C, a fingerprint sensor and perhaps a switch to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon line of processors, but beyond this, little is known.

We’ve been in touch with Asus to see what we can see ahead of the event, and we’ll of course cover the launch as it unfolds.

Are you guys going to be covering this? I’ll be interested to read what the new Zenfone is going to be like.

Remotely yes, unfortunately we’re not on the ground for Computex. The launch is very likely not going to make it to Australia again, but hey, we’ll be asking the question when they’re official.

“switch to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon line of processors” – but the image has the Intel logo… Maybe a Qualcomm version too?

It’s a funny one; we saw the Intel logo, but that Qualcomm rumour has been reported a few times. Can’t be sure.
