So Dell dropped quite the bombshell at CES with the XPS 13″ 2-in-1 machine that has plenty of chins wagging in tech-inclinded circles. The base model is going for $999US but we can now announce that the starting price in Australia is $2299 for the i5 model with QHD+ (3200 x 1800) display, 8GB Memory and 256GB SSD – available now from Dell Australia, though please note, this is not the base model from the USA.

The discussion around many circles is that with the option to add the active pen (at extra cost) the XPS 13″ 2-in-1 could be a serious competitor to the Surface Pro which is widely regarded as the market leader in this space right now, or for some users fill their tablet and laptop needs at once.

We’ve reached out to Dell and have confirmed a review unit will be on its way to Ausdroid soon, so stay tuned for more details.

What details about the Dell XPS 13-inch 2-in-1 are catching your eyes?

Wow.. Australian tech tax is Alive and well. $300 more for the base model compared to a comparable model in USA+gst.

Base $1199US = $1642AUS there is about a $650 gap in extra pricing which sucks.

+10% gst = AUD$1807.. So $492 more.. Sorry…not sure how I miscalculated earlier to $300. Guess still worth importing it from USA.
