Jon Youshaei, Product Marketing Manager for YouTube has announced on their blog overnight that starting from today YouTube will begin to highlight creators and artists who are “On The Rise” within a new section of the “Trending Tab”.

The new feature, which for now at least is limited to US-based YouTube users, will highlight four different creators and artists each and every week for a full day within the Trending Tab using one of the two badges: Creator on the Rise or Artist on the Rise (music content).

Any creator or artist with over 1,000 subscribers is eligible to be featured within the Trending Tab. On The Rise creators and artists will be highlighted within the new trending tab based on a number of factors which include view count, watch time and subscriber growth. Youshaei also stated that the YouTube team is involved in the process to help select which eligible creators will be featured within the tab.

The artists and creators who will be featured in the new section will be notified by YouTube directly when they have been featured so they can share the moment with new or existing fans on their social media channels, or wherever they want.

Youshaei has said that the YouTube team hope this new feature will help general YouTube users find and discover inspirational new creators. Youshaei haven’t stated if or when the feature will become available to the rest of the world, but one could speculate that the initial US availability is just a pre-cursor to a staggered roll out of the feature to all YouTube users.
