The Samsung Galaxy S8 is just weeks away from launching, and it appears that even with all the leaks there’s more to come. A new report overnight says that the Galaxy S8/S8+ will both feature 1000fps slow-motion video capture.
The report from Naver, states that Samsung has achieved the technical feat by inserting DRAM into the 12MP sensor that the phones are rumoured to use. Sony recently announced the Xperia XZ which can capture 960fps @ 720p resolution, as well as a newer sensor that can capture 1000fps at 1080P resolution.
The Galaxy S8 will have an 8MP front-facing camera, though it will likely not have the slow-motion feature. Samsung is also apparently set to include a 3.7MP RGB camera for iris scanning – which may also be used for facial recognition. The iris scanning feature apparently worked quite well on the Galaxy Note 7, so Samsung is likely looking forward to bringing this feature back.
There really isn’t much left to announce for the S8, though with tidbits like this cropping up we’ll be tuning in at 2am AEDT on March 30 to see everything Samsung has to tell us about the phone.
