A couple of weeks ago one of our editors attended the launch of the HTC U11 and we have not been able to shut him up about it since. Apparently it is a return to form for HTC after what will be a quickly forgotten phone the U Ultra. At the time there was no information on local carrier availability but today we have received it.
We have seen it available outright from HTC via preorder but commencing June 5 you will be able to pick one up from major Australian retailers, including Optus, Virgin Mobile, JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman with it arriving at Telstra shortly after.
At Optus you will be able to purchase the HTC U11 in Amazing Silver and Brilliant Black on any 24 month postpaid plan. The $85 My Plan Plus plan with $0 upfront monthly handset payments and 10GB (inc. 3GB BONUS4) of data. This plan also includes data-free streaming of Google Play Music, iHeartRadio, Pandora and Spotify.
Virgin Mobile are offering the U11 in Brilliant Black and Amazing Silver for $65 per month with 4GB of data. This can be purchased online or by calling 13 63 69.
Telstra will be offering the U11 in Brilliant Black from the 4th of July on a range of plans.
For those looking at an outright purchase of the phone the RRP for the HTC U11 is $999 at HTC, JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman.
The HTC U11 promises to be a great phone and will hopefully sell well for HTC. It has HTC Edge Sense which is touching the edge of the phone to launch apps and commands and a camera that scored a 90 with DXOMark, the highest independent rating ever awarded to a smartphone camera. The phone also comes with HTC USonic headphones which include active noise cancellation.

Are you looking at purchasing a HTC U11? Does it have you intrigued enough to switch (back) to HTC?
Do we know what colour formats will be available at JB? Given they’re a Telstra retailer, what are the chances of picking up the silver phone on a Telstra plan through JB?
Only Black at Telstra? Is this 100%? The Black is my least favourite colour.
I’m rocking a htc10, best smartphone I’ve used especially the audio with headphones, I may pull the trigger on the U11 if it’s audio is as good
i guess seeing as there’s no mention of Vodafone that they won’t be getting the U11?
we did notice that omission too. maybe the U Ultra is enough for them?
Looks like a great phone, but we really need the other colours hitting Australia too.
Whats the odds most people will cover up the phone anyway with a case to protect their $1,000 investment?
