Vodafone Australia Red roaming is getting better, with more countries being added to the list of destinations. Today, Vodafone has announced eight more countries are available.
From today if you’re travelling to Israel, Taiwan, Chile, Sri Lanka, Nauru, Jersey, Guernsey, or the Isle of Man, you can enjoy the same inclusions – text, data and calls – from your Vodafone Red plan for just an additional $5 per day. That’s not every day, just the days you use it. If you leave your phone off for a day while overseas you don’t pay the additional $5, it’s a great way to get access to data, as well as remain contactable through text or calls on your Australian number.
It feeds into the need for more data while travelling to access things like hotel/flight reservations, or even just the basics like maps. Vodafone Consumer Business Unit Director Ben McIntosh says
Sometimes 100MB here and there to use while you’re roaming the world – like you get from some other Aussie telcos – just doesn’t cut it, which is why our $5 Roaming is built for customers who like to travel without rationing their data.
The list of countries you can travel to which Vodafone offers the $5 per day Red roaming now numbers over 60, including the top 10 Australian international destinations:

You can of course grab a local SIM at your destination which is what many people do, but that can be a hassle finding and activating a SIM card late at night in a strange city. If you’re already a Vodafone customer, you can contact Vodafone before you leave to make sure you’re eligible to enable Red Roaming. If you’re not a Vodafone customer it may pay to talk to them about a month-to-month SIM for your trip.
