Aldi released their latest special buys in their catalogue and online which lists their Cocoon branded Android 4K Media Player from this Saturday 14th October for $79.95.

Its certainly not the first time Aldi has sold this Android Media Player and it’s at the same $79.95 price tag we’ve seen previously. You could probably do a lot worse. But if you’ve missed this in the past, here is what you get for your bucks:

  • 1GB RAM
  • 2 x USB ports
  • MicroSD up to 64GB (card not included)
  • 8GB memory on board
  • Wi Fi or ethernet connection
  • HDMI output
  • Up to 4K playback
  • Kodi Preinstalled
  • Android 4.4.2 KitKat

Its a little disappointing that the media player only runs Android Kit-kat, given that the current version of Android is 8.0 (Oreo), but we’ve been seeing this box since its launch in 2014. But if you are in the market for a spare media streaming with 4K resolution, than the Aldi Android 4K Media Player certainly does fit into this category.

In the same catalogue and day, Aldi does have additional entertainment equipment such as TV with DVD, Soundbar with subwoofer and more which you can view here.

As stated, the Android 4K Media Player is available from your local Aldi store starting this Saturday 14th October 2017 for $79.95

Xiaomi Mi Box (Android TV) is a *much better* product in every way. Everything important like Kodi and Netflix works on it. OS updates come from Google.

SO 2015

Netflix doesn’t even support KitKat anymore, I’m pretty sure. What’s the point?
