We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia, but we’ll take their sales on Black Friday/Cyber Monday and Google is delivering on Google Play with deals on Apps/Games, Movies/TV, Music and Books.

Google Play Music

Google is offering new users of Google Play Music the chance to test it out with four months of free access to Google Play Music. It’s also possible that if you haven’t taken advantage of a Google Play Music subscription trial for a while you might be able to jump on board as well. It’s worth trying out so jump over to this link to try it out.

Google Play Movies and TV

Google Play Movies and TV are getting deals too, in the US Google is offering a one-off 50% off coupon for a movie, but here we get a bunch of TV shows priced per season at under $20 or Recent release movies under $10.

TV

Not the best deals in the world, but you can score some deals if your favourite show is listed, there’s Game of Thrones, Spongebob Squarepants, Community and a heap more, head over and check out what’s on offer.

Movies

It all depends on your tastes in movies as to whether these are good deals or not, but there’s some pretty good movies listed here.

The pricing seems to be good for SD quality movies though The Girl on the Train is priced at $7.99 for the HD version, but the HD version of Dr Strange is up at $14.99 so not quite under the $10 mark unless you’re happy with the SD version. No UHD versions are available in this list of movies which is a little annoying, but we take what we can get.

If you want to check it out head over to Google Play Movies and see what they have.

Google Play Books

I do love my books and there’s two deals you can get with Google Play Books, the first is a selection of books for under $5, while the second has been around for a while, but it’s a good one nevertheless so take advantage of it – $5 off any book priced over $5.

The list of top sellers under $5 is actually very good with books from top rated authors like Clive Cussler, Jeffery Archer, Jodi Piccoult and many more. It’s well worth your time to go through and pick up a few deals to pad out your library in preparation for some quiet time over Christmas (if you’re that lucky).

If you want to check out the list, you can head over and check them out on Google Play here.

The $5 off any book over $5 deal is showing in the Google Play Books section, so you’ll need to click the banner to have it applied to your account. It was timely for me with the release of a new Andy Weir (author of The Martian) book called Artemis. It can be applied to books and comic books alike so you can even pick up some good graphic novels if you want.

Check out the Google Play Books section for the banner, it looks like this:

Google Play Apps and Games

Google Play is of course mostly about the apps and games, so of course there are deals on apps and games.

Apps
There’s not great deals on apps, it’s more discounts of subscriptions like 40% off a 1 year subscription to meditation app Headspace, and 50% off the first month of a Colourfy subscription – it’s a colouring in app (I don’t get it, but sure).

Games

For gamers though there’s much better deals with up to 80% off premium games. There’s quite a few titles listed so it’s worthwhile looking at what’s there.

For me, I grabbed the two Lego games on-sale: Lego Jurassic Park and Lego Ninjago which are discounted from $6.99 down to $1.39 and I’ll be picking up a few more like Don’t Starve: Pocket Edition which is down from $6.49 to just $1.59.

To check out the complete list head over to the Google Play focus for the sale which you can find here.

There’s probably going to be a bunch of games on-sale over the next four days, so add any good deals you find to the comments below. I’ll try to get to as many comments and approve them as they come in, so don’t worry if our comment auto-mod doesn’t post them automatically.

Can’t see the $5 credit for a book, will have to keep checking. Artemis does look good and is on my wishlist. Might be the one to get.
