How much space do you have on your new laptop or mobile phone? If you want to expand storage then a USB-C drive may be the best option in a little while with SanDisk currently showing off a 1TB USB-C flash drive at CES.

It’s not the largest drive we’ve seen though with the Kingston’s DataTraveler Ultimate GT taking that crown after they showed off a 1TB and 2TB sized drives at CES last year. The Kingston drives support USB 3.1 with write speeds of up to 200MB/s while the drive can read at speeds of up to 300MB/s.

The Kingston drives are fast but are quite a bit larger than the svelte look of the SanDisk option, though SanDisk didn’t apparently have any specs to share with regards to read/write speeds.

The drive is apparently just a prototype at this stage, with no pricing or release dates even being bandied about at this stage. We’ll definitely be following the progress of this particular unit.
