Google has this morning released their Android Security update for Android, bringing with it a host of security fixes as well as the update to switch on the Pixel Visual Core for Pixel 2 devices. The update is contained within the OTA and Factory images that are now live on the Google Software page.

Google has included a number of fixes in two updates as usual, one labelled for the 1st of February and the other for the 5th of February with supported Nexus and Pixel devices targeted with the 5th of February patch. Google’s update for Pixel/Nexus devices includes fixes for Qualcomm hardware as well as the kernel, media framework and more.

The Factory Images and OTA files pages are being updated now with files now

  • Pixel 2 – OPM1.171019.019
  • Pixel 2 XL – OPM1.171019.018
  • Pixel/Pixel XL – OPM1.171019.016
  • Pixel C – OPM1.171019.016
  • Nexus 6P – OPM3.171019.014 and OPM5.171019.015
  • Nexus 5X – OPM3.171019.014 and OPM5.171019.015

There’s no distinction between the update files for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, however earlier releases have been carrier specific, so be careful.

    Still waiting for either of the Jan updates for the 5x : (
    But will be interesting to see which update does eventually drop.
